Whistling Straits Pics

Finally got my pictures from Whistling Straits uploaded. Still waiting on my playing partners.

In this picture, you have Kevin Harper, Craig Riebe, yours truly and Todd Wagner, the Coordinator of the Golf School at Kohler.

This is the 17th hole, a par 3, 220 yards. It played about 175 for us, downhill, downwind. Look at the other pics to find out where my tee shot ended up.

The album is over to the right.

Object of My Affection

I heart this purse and have officially added it to my "Wish List." With the $658.00 price tag, it is quite expensive, but still something I can admire. While it comes in a multitude of colors, I think I would choose the citron (shown) because it is very different and would add some zing to many outfits.
I will say that I have a bone to pick with Coach because I feel like a lot of their purses are becoming way too expensive. Maybe my tastes have gotten expensive over they years, but at one time, I felt like you could get a very nice purse for a fairly reasonable amount of money. By reasonable, I mean $250.00 (still not that cheap) But, not bad for a nice leather purse. After checking out their website earlier this week, I found many of their bags to be over $400.00, with the highest topping out at over $1,000.00. I think they are letting their celebrity status, thanks to Us Weekly, go to their head. Either way, I still love the bag!!

Sweet Home Indiana

I know I am a little late on my weekend update, but work and the Fantasy Football post called!!

Matt and I had a great weekend in Indiana, making several stops to visit friends and family. Saturday we headed to Lafayette for a quick bite to eat at Matt's parents house. Even though Carol just had a procedure, similar to Lasik, done on Friday, she still made a great summertime lunch of burgers and corn on the cob. Yummy!!

From Lafayette we headed to Noblesville for Jen Connolly's baby shower, hosted by her husband, Sean. Yes, hosted by her husband!! Sean really outdid himself, as the entire evening was filled with great food, drink and friends. Sean and Jen are expecting a little girl, Callie Paige Connolly on Sept. 17th, although this little girl might be joining us fairly shortly as the Dr. estimated her CURRENT weight to be 8 lbs. 10 oz. Plus or minus 10 oz., of course. I am praying (and I am sure Jen is too) for the under!!! Thank you to Sean and Jen for being great hosts, it was fun to spend the evening with the Lafayette crew, it had been too long!
After we left Noblesville on Sunday, we headed to Zionsville to see the Barron's. We had a wonderful visit with them and enjoyed spending some time with Libby. We can't believe how much she has changed in the past couple of months. She is one adorable little girl. Thank you for a great lunch, it was SO good to see you guys!
At last, we were on our way home, but not without one quick stop in West Lafayette to pick up a Big 10 and a few extra bags of breadsticks. Man, do we miss Pizza Express!!

Are You Ready For Some Football?!?!

WARNING: Long post ahead!

Well, it is almost September and you know what that means? Football season!!! Although from what I can tell, NFL preseason has already started. As many of you know, I am not a huge sports fan, never have been. Although I will have to say that my tolerance for sports has increased ten fold in the last couple of years due to my husband being pretty much obsessed with any sport out there, including NASCAR! I guess that is what happens when you grow up in Indiana, have a friend that lives in Charlotte, and your company sponsors Matt Kenseth.

Football season around the Hunt household revolves around 2 different things, Matt’s College Football Pool and Fantasy Football. While I do participate in Matt’s College Football Pool (even though I pretty much stink), I never quite understood all the hype that goes along with Fantasy Football. Now, I know there are many ladies out there that participate in Fantasy Leagues, however; I still truly believe that many of us don’t become quite as obsessed as our husbands, boyfriends, fiancés, etc. Frankly, we don’t quite understand the obsession.

I thought I would compile a top 5 list of what Fantasy Football means to me and why I don’t quite get the entertainment value my husband does. So, without further ado, here is goes:
Fantasy Football means…..
1. Cheering for the Packers even though you are a Bears fan because Brett Farve is on your Fantasy Team and you need him to throw a touchdown. Huh??? Since when do Bears fans cheer for Brett Farve. I thought that was taboo.
2. Spending hundreds of dollars on multiple teams only to give your wife a lecture 2 days later about how “we really need to start saving money, babe.” Umm, yeah..talk about a way to just drive me to Oak Street. What else do I have to do on Sunday afternoons when you have grown roots to “your” chair and the remote?
3. Constant chatter with your buddies that revolves around trades, players, teams, etc. What do you guys talk about the rest of the year? Oh yeah, that’s right, Fantasy baseball and golf. Does it ever stop?
4. Spending 5 hours drafting players for a team that doesn’t even exist. Hello?!...waste of time! There are a lot more productive things that can take place during those 5 hours than sitting in front of a computer. I believe this is an excuse to talk smack to all your buddies and make fun of each other about previous picks. Do I sense some jealously about stolen players?
5. An excuse for you and your buddies act like you are in 5th grade again and think of foul names for your team that make you giggle like little girls….Shockers, the Junk Toucher, Twatman and Throbbin’, Hugh Jazz, etc, etc.

So, with all that being said, here are my Top 10 Fantasy Players for 2007 (mostly because these are the only ones I know):
1. Tom Brady – enough said!
2. Rex Grossman – how can you not love Sexy Rexy? Plus, he is from Bloomington.
3. Antwaan Randle El – a fellow Hoosier
4. Michael Vic – don’t know if he will even play this year, but he sure has been in the news a lot.
5. Teddy Brewski – I will admit, I had to look up his first name. I just think his last name is pretty funny.
6. Peyton Manning – he will throw for a lot of touchdowns and he looks like a guy I went to college with.
7. Matt Leinart – He dated Cacee Cobb, that is really how I know him and he is hot!
8. Brady Quinn – gotta love Notre Dame football.
9. Reggie Bush – I really don’t know anything about him, just a familiar name I remembered.
10. Brian Urlacher – I know, another Bears player, but I do know that he dated Paris Hilton.
And, just because I can, I have an 11th player because again, I think he is cute!
11. Joey Harrington - I know he used to play for the Lions and did not do that well so he was traded.

As you can see, my team would not be very good because it consists mostly of Quarterbacks, but minus a couple of players, my team would be the best looking!

Go BEARS!!!

The Jury is Still Out...

I dialed up a Grande Quesadilla on Tuesday. Still not sure if it falls into the upper pantheon of T-Bell offerings. For now, it has a long way to go until it hits Chilito status with me.

The background is that Gibson, Miceli and I were talking about the Grande Quesadilla last weekend while driving back and forth to the bachelor party. Gibson said they were great, Miceli and I decided that we needed to have one.

I had two cancelled T-Bell runs on Monday and Tuesday of this week, the latter because I was needed in Detroit that night, so I took off around lunch time. I decided to make a run for the border in Chesterton, IN on the way there because of the exorbitant amount of jones'n I had been experiencing.

I dialed up a Chicken Grande Quesasilla, soft taco and drink.

The quesadilla left me unimpressed. But, I think I have to try another one for the following reasons:

1. The filling was poor - must have been a bad day for Raul working the line - there just wasn't that much chicken or cheese, i.e., too much bread. I think I will give another store a try.

2. The chicken didn't really have any taste - so I will go with steak next time.

3. I was in the car and think that if I go in to order, sit and enjoy a full T-Bell experience, it will taste that much better.

4. As I was in the car, I took the no fire sauce option. I didn't want to deal with it in the car, so I think I will load up on sauce next time.

So - the jury is still out - will pick up another grande this weekend or early next week, and I will make sure I follow the above protocol.

House Beautiful

I recently began subscribing to House Beautiful and I love it! I used to subscribe to Domino, but cancelled my subscription because the style was a lot more contemporary and funky than my taste. House Beautiful provides a modern fresh twist on traditional ideas. The magazine is filled with great fabric, furniture, and decorating ideas. Even the ads are eye catching because they show some of the most gorgeous rooms.

One of the things I like best about the magazine is their ability to take a paint color that is slightly off the wall and use it as a neutral in the room by combining it with great art work, fabric, and accessories. The magazine always provides the name and brand of the paint color, which is helpful if you like the color they have chosen and are brave enough to use the color in your house someday.

If you are looking for a new magazine subscription, I highly recommend House Beautiful. Especially, if you are looking to do any decorating in the near future.

One Last Thing

I also wanted to give a shout out to my sister in law, Kelly. She completed her first Triathlon on Sunday in 2 hours and 15 minutes....way to go!! CONGRATULATIONS, we are so proud of you!!

FYI: Kelly is on the left in the orange. Also pictured are Jim's mom, Katie (right), Jim's sister, Jess (middle) and Jim's dad, John (the only guy in the picture). I apologize but I am not sure who the girl second in on the left is. Congrats to all that finished!

Here Comes The Sun.....Finally!!

Well, I think the rain has stopped, at least for now. Man, has it been doom and gloom around the city, raining on and off for the past 5 or 6 days. Sorry to start off the post with such a bad vibe, but I am just sick of the rain and humidity. Despite all the rain, life in the Hunt household continues to busy, busy, busy. I can't believe it is already the 21th of August; where has the summer gone?

I spent most of late last week and the weekend in Crystal Lake with my mom and dad. Since Matt was in Green Lake with "Team Dude" I thought I would head home for a little R & R with my mom and dad. After all, who doesn't like a little pampering and some home cooked meals. Wait, did I have any home cooked meals?

Saturday was Laura's baby shower, which gave some of us ladies a chance to visit and spoil Baby G and Laura with lots of fun gifts. I will say, this little girl is going to be one of the best dressed babies I have ever seen, as she received some adorable outfits. Thanks to my mom for helping me make all the food and to Kate, Sarah, and Jorie for being great co-hostesses, the shower was beautiful. I will post pictures as soon as I get my camera. I accidentally left it in Crystal Lake and probably will not have a chance to get it until Labor Day.

On a side note, the good news about it being the end of August is that my sister and Ben's wedding is only 53 days away. We are coming into the home stretch, which is so exciting. The bridesmaids and I are in the process of planning one of the best nights of my sister's life...her bachelorette party. I can't give away any details right now, but I hope she has as much fun at her bachelorette party as I did at mine.

I guess that is all for now...stay tuned for the much anticipated Fantasy Football post. Well, much anticipated by Ben!

Random Musings and Great Golf Courses

Just a few things for you...

Riebe's bachelor party was held up at Green Lake this past weekend. Unfortunately the weather only cooperated half the time. We were supposed to be on the water all day Saturday, but it was about 62 degrees and rained all day. Not much for Team Dude to do shut up in the house for 12 hours except booze and play cards, so that's what we did.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Whistling Straits on Friday was pretty frickin fantastic. The course itself is pretty unbelievable, plus the fact that you have caddies, sheep roaming the grounds and you can hit your balls into Lake Michigan, makes it one of the best golf experiences I have ever had. My group played the blue tees, which is the 2nd farthest, about 6900 yards, and where the Senior US Open was played from earlier this summer. I shot a 95 but had four 7's and an 8. If I wouldn't have blown up on those 5 holes, I would have been ecstatic with my round. Overall, I was overly pleased with how I hit the ball - actually, I was the only one of 8 that didn't loose any balls. I took a few pictures and will have Ali upload them at some point. My two playing partners took a ton, so I will see what I can do to get those.

Livonia for me tomorrow and Thursday - very exciting times. We will be down in Indy this weekend celebrating one of Sean and Jen Connolly's last free weekends before baby Connolly comes next month - looking forward to that.

That's all I have - stay classy.

Wrigley Field Hotties and Their Cameramen Boyfriends

Last night Matt and I went to the Cubs game with the Gibson’s. We had great seats…upper deck right behind home plate, about 4 rows back. There were a couple reasons why these seats were so good:

1) Because you are so high and right in the middle, you can see all the action on the field (and in the stands, keep reading).

2) For those of you that didn’t watch the game last night, it poured. Our seats were covered by an overhang so we didn’t get soaked during the hour and a half rain delay.

And the best reason of all:

3) You could watch the two camera guys in front of us scan the crowd for hot chicks and zoom in on various areas of their body. Yes, I am serious!! And when I say zoom in, I mean zoom in, I think I read a bra size off of someone’s tag. In fact, during the good ole’ Star Spangled Banner, the cameraman directly in front of us was not zoomed in on the singer, not the flag, but the 34C cleavage of some hottie halfway across the park!! It must be a common pastime for the camera crew because they all share the images they capture via the cameras. Dirty, dirty men, but quite hilarious at the same time. Matt and Matt have decided to request these seats at every Cub game from now on.

Rules of the Road

I have spent a few hours driving in the last week and will spend some more with another trip to Michigan tomorrow and another next week. Yesterday's drive from Carlinville, IL to Chicago was one of the most ridiculous trips I have taken in a while. The abundance of bad drivers on the road these days makes me wish I had a teleportation device at my disposal. After talking with my front seat mate Ben, I have decided to publish a few rules of the road that if heeded, will make a four hour drive at the least, bearable.

1. Use your fricking cruise control. If you are in the middle of nowhere Illinois, put your cruise control on and leave it. There is no reason for you to range between 65-80. If you have to, think of it as you helping the environment - I don't care, just use it.

2. If I pass you, you are done. If I pass you and then you pass me back and sit in front of me, I will run you off the road. Yesterday, a gold mini-van passed me 5 times - yes, 5 times, and yes, I had the cruise control on. Once I pass you and then you pass me back, you hold no position on the road, I will not get over for you, I will cut you off, etc.

3. If you are in front of me, and together we pass someone, and then you sit in the left lane, I will pass you on the right. And no, you do not have the right to flip me off, like the trucker did last Wednesday. Get the f over.

4. If you want to pass me, fine, but don't sit in my blind spot for 2 miles. Just push the pedal down a little and you can be on your merry way.

5. When in construction zones, its ok to slow down. Just don't slow down to 10 mph lower than the new speed limit when the workers aren't even there that day.

6. If you are going 5 mph over the speed limit and you see a cop - don't slam on your brakes - if you do, I will call you an idiot.

7. If you are riding a motorcycle without a helmet, and I see one strapped to the back of your bike, you also will be called an idiot.

8. Have money ready at toll booths - better yet, get a stinkin IPass or whatever you need to zoom through - I mean, who lives in Chicago and doesn't have an IPass? It doesn't even cost any money!!!

Note to Illinois lawmakers - 65 is so geriatric - get into the new century and hit up the 70 mph.

If everyone could just follow those rules, it would make at least my trips that much more enjoyable.

Congratulations Jaime and Mike!

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to the Berndt's. We just found out they are expecting their first baby in March. We couldn't be more excited and happy for them!!! Enjoy the next 8 months and we can't wait to meet Baby Berndt. Best wishes for a happy healthy pregnancy and baby. We love you guys!!

Welcome to the Blogging World!

It seems as though everyone (including Matt and I) is jumping on the blogging train, which I absolutely love. Not only does it give me something to do when I have some down time at work, but more importantly, it gives me a chance to catch up with friends on a daily basis. I highly encourage anyone who is even considering doing a blog to sign up for one. Although it might seem as though blogging is hard, it is actually quite easy. Templates are already set up for use and can be customized to your liking. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can do it. I am not the most computer savvy person in the world, but blogger makes it really easy. You do not even have to know html.

Anyway, I wanted to post about two new blogs that have been created in the past week. The first, All Keegan All The Time, is the blog of Keegan Brian Glynn, created by his wonderful parents Heather and Bob. I am excited about this blog because even though we live fairly close to the Glynn's, we don't get to see them on a regular basis. This will be a great way to keep up with Keegan and watch him grow. I love all the pictures so far and can't believe he is over a week old already. The second blog, The Kidder's, was created by Micki, Scott, and Grace Kidder. This blog is going to be a great way to stay in touch with the Kidder's and what is new with their lives in South Bend. I am excited to see more pictures of Grace as she continues to grow and change everyday.

Check out the right hand side of our blog to see a listing of all our friends that have blogs. Once you see them, you too will check them daily for updates.

Fun Weekend In Crystal Lake

We apologize for the lack of posts over the last couple of days. I have been pretty busy at work and the evenings seem to fly by once we are home.

I have added a new album from our weekend in Crystal Lake. We headed to Crystal Lake on Friday after work with a quick detour to see Jaime and Mike Berndt. The Berndt’s just bought an amazing home in Cary, only a few short miles from my parent’s house. Even though they just moved in about a month and a half ago, they are completely settled and the house is decorated wonderfully. Jaime has truly gorgeous taste. It was great to catch up with Jaime and Mike, as we do not get to see them as often as we would like. We miss having them in the city, but are thrilled they found a lovely home in Cary. Thank you so much for letting us stop by for a few minutes, it was great to see you both.

Saturday we celebrated my sister’s birthday with Bev and Craig Livermore (Ben’s parents), my Aunt Sue, Uncle, Dave, Adam, Megan and Grandma Marie. Everyone came over to my mom and dad’s house for the delicious meal my mom made. Matt was hoping to get a good game of washers going, but the weather did not cooperate. It rained and was very muggy the entire evening. Nonetheless, it was a very fun evening and great to see the Livermore’s and the McArdle’s.

Sunday, Aunt Sue, Aunt Joyce, and Nancy Lashbrook hosted a bridal shower for my sister at the Crystal Lake Country Club. The shower was gorgeous and so much fun. It was great to catch up with friends and neighbors that I have not seen for a long time. Thank you for hosting such a lovely lunch; it is very much appreciated by all.

Matt's Travels

Time to get you updated on my usually worldly but not so much right now travels. I will be leaving in the morning for beautiful Livonia, Michigan. I love that place. Well, not really. It starts my three week off and on tour of Michigan. I will drive back Friday afternoon.

Next week, I will be driving to Flint-town, MI for a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Spend the night in Brighton then a meeting in Howell before coming home. Hopefully I will be able to squeeze in a quick trip to the farm that Tuesday morning.

The week after that, its back to Livonia Tuesday through Thursday.

One of the best parts of my job is my innate ability to schedule trips around sporting events. In the next three weeks, I will see the following:
Lions v Bengals, Thursday August 9
Mariners v White Sox, Friday August 10
Reds v Cubs, Wednesday August 15
Indians v Tigers, Wednesday August 22
Red Sox v White Sox, Thursday August 23

Its a tough life, but someone's got to do it.

Introducting...Keegan Brian Glynn

Keegan Brian Glynn was born on August 1, 2007 at 4:24 p.m. at Central DuPage Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. ½ oz. and is 19 ¾ inches long. As you can see from the picture, he is just precious.

Matt, Carolyn, and I went to meet Keegan last night and to visit with Heather and Bob. They Glynn’s are doing great and you can already see how much they have fallen in love with Keegan. They are going to be amazing parents. Keegan looks a lot like Bob did as a baby; their baby pictures are almost identical. What a cutie!!! Heather looks wonderful, absolutely amazing!!

Here are some pictures from our visit last night. We had a great time visiting with Heather, Bob, Keegan and both grandma’s (Maya and Gigi, to be official). Thank you so much for the pizza, it was great to have dinner with all of you. We can wait to spend more time with Keegan and watch him grow up. Lots of love to the Glynn’s!!

Cooper's 30th Birthday Party

On Saturday, Matt and I headed to Naperville to celebrate Sarah Nickoloff's (aka: Cooper) 30th birthday. We had a great time eating, drinking, playing bean bags, and most importantly spending the evening with great friends. Thank you so much to the Nickoloff's for opening up their house for such a wondeful party and to Stacey, Kevin, and Chris for planning such a fun evening. Happy Birthday, Sarah!! It was so much fun to celebrate with everyone, what a great evening!

Check out the pictures from the party here. Steve also created a pretty funny slideshow of our bean bag tourney. Check it out here!
