The flight to John Wayne airport is a long one. Thank goodness I have the ever so exciting CPA Review reading material to pass the time. I was out in the O.C. for a couple of days last week for a fraud investigation and we found enough that I am going back with a team for four days this week. Investigations are never a good thing, but they are at least interesting.
I usually don't get a lot of time off when I am traveling, but last week was an exception. I was able to drive down to Carlsbad to visit my buddy Kevin Harper at Taylor Made. As Ali is able to tell you because I keep talking about it, it was an awesome quick trip. Harper took me on a tour of the facilities - including the range/test area and the club assembly lines. I had no clue that every Taylor Made club in the US was assembled at this fairly small location. For a life-long golfer, it was just an awesome experience to see all of these clubs being put together. The putter research area with all of the prototypes and the tour professional assembly areas were also highlights. We ended at the company store where I picked up a badly needed new travel bag as well as some stuff for Gibson. They didn't have everything I needed, so I will order it through Kevin's internal website. Thanks to Harper for letting me intrude for a few hours. I will see him next at Riebe's wedding in May.
As I said, I don't get a lot of time off, so in my first ever trip to SoCal, I wasn't able to visit other friends in the Diego or L.A. I doubt that I will get time this week, but if I do - expect a phone call.
Hoosiers are looking better these days, but I still don't think they are a top 10 team. If they pull off a win today at Ohio St, I might change my mind.
